Power words are words that can make the job of the reader much easier. By using the correct power words in your resume, you can do wonders for your resume and get it noticed.There are several types of power words that a potential employer may be looking for when they are reviewing a resume. While this is not always an accurate predictor of how they will read your resume, it will help you prepare. Here are some of the most common words used to describe resumes and how they can influence a potential employer.- 'Reference.' For employers, this will generally mean that the employee has referred the position to them. They will also use it when referring to an existing employee that they want to extend an offer to. If you are interviewing with an employer, ask if they are referencing you or another candidate. If they are, ask if they would consider sen ding out an offer to that person.- 'Competent.' While the word itself is not overly impressive, the idea behind it is that the applicant is someone who has had significant time spent working in their field. If the employer wants to take on a new hire, this word should be used throughout the resume.- 'Translator.' This is a word that doesn't necessarily mean English, but instead means that the applicant knows a lot about another language. They will also often use it to reference another country. Try to use the words 'Asian American'South Asian' if you need to refer to other countries and cultures.- 'Visionary.' A word that makes a big impact, this is a word that describes an individual who possesses a goal. They will use this word when talking about their goals for their career and how they are going to achieve them.- 'Aware.' The phrase 'aware' is used a lot to describe the ability to anticipate situations and act upon them.These are only a few of the many power words that you will encounter when writing a resume. Make sure that you include all of the words above as well as some of the more unusual ones. This is the best way to not only create a resume that will impress the reader, but will be read by the hiring manager as well.
